It's that time of year again! December is full of goodies, time with family, and last but not least...scrumptious espresso drinks! Of course we are talking about the two most famous Coffee Cottage holiday drinks. The Eggnog Latte and Peppermint mocha.
Eggnog is believed to have originated around the year 1775 in Europe. It was thought to only be served amongst the high society, due to the lack of eggs and milk amongst the lower classes. Once Eggnog came to the new world, colonist's began adding Rum. Colonist's added Rum because it was easy to come by compared to finer liqours. The basic recipe of eggnog consists of: eggs, beaten with cream, milk, sugar, and in some cases a dash of alcohol. While we can't add the real rum for you we will be happy to add a shot of Butter Rum syrup to your eggnog latte :-)
Peppermint Mocha is another seasonal favorite that we have grown to love. It starts with our dark ground Ghiradelli chocolate. Next a shot of peppermint syrup. Add the golden espresso, steamed milk and top it off with a nice dollop of whipped cream. Of course to make it extra special don't forget the whipped cream and bean. While it's hard to mess with a classic like the Peppermint Mocha. Next time you're in try the Peppermint Mocha made with White Chocolate instead of Dark Chocolate. It's the perfect combination of cool and creamy.
Traditions are something that make this time of year so special to many of us. Let us know! Which seasonal drink is your favorite? Whether it's the Eggnog Latte, Peppermint Mocha, or maybe something completely different. We love being apart of your Christmas traditions! All of us here at the Coffee Cottage would like to wish you a safe and Happy Holiday season!
